- Airport Introduction


- Gwangju International Airport was opened on Nonmember 16, 1948, and the first commercial plane (DC-3) had its virgin flight on February 10, 1950. On January 10, 1964, the airport was relocated to the present address, and since then the traveller terminals, taxi way, apron and other facilities have been upgraded for full-scale transportation. While being developed with a proper "airport" appearance, the airport was bought, and has been managed, by the Korea Airports Corporation since June 1990.
- After the take over, in 1994, it was modernized and its capacity was expanded into 140,000 flights per year, a passenger terminal with a capacity of 4,000,000, a cargo terminal capable of holding up to 33,000 tons, apron which is accommodates 7 mid-sized planes at the same time, and a parking lot for 933 cars. The airport plays an important role as the air transport hub for the southwestern area of the Korean peninsula
- Located in a distance of 11 kilometers to the west from Gwangju city, the main gateway of the Honam district, Gwangju International Airport consists of two terminals for passenger and cargo, a runway, taxiway, plane parks, and parking-lot for 820 vehicles so that it is available with pleasant and convenience.
